It seems that today's political dialog has become contaminated with pure bullshit. Politicians as well as their blogging advocates no longer even try to hide their dishonesty. Words no longer have meaning. Constructive debate appears to have been overcome with shear delusional lies. Lies, after being debunked, are repeated as if reality wasn't even a factor. This blog is intended to address the nonsense that many of today's politicians and their blogging cohorts try to pass off as real. Comments are welcomed but must stay within the parameters of reality while maintaining an objective of dialog rather than diatribe.

The Bullshit Of Allen West

Coming from The Palm Beach Post;
From an Allen West campaign “town hall” Tuesday in Jensen Beach:

Moderator (reading question submitted in writing): What percentage of the American legislature do you think are card-carrying Marxists or international Socialists?

West: No, that’s a good question. I believe there’s about 78 to 81 members of the Democrat Party that are members of the Communist Party…

(pause of approximately 27 seconds)

…No, they actually don’t hide it. It’s called the Congressional Progressive Caucus.

From the Congressional Progressive Caucus:

Allen West is denigrating the millions of Americans who voted to elect Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) members, and he is ignoring the oath they took to protect and defend the U.S. Constitution—just like he did. Calling fellow Members of Congress ‘communists’ is reminiscent of the days when Joe McCarthy divided Americans with name-calling and modern-day witch hunts that don’t advance policies to benefit people’s lives.

We hope the people of Florida’s 22nd Congressional District will note that he repeatedly polarizes the American people instead of focusing on their interests. When people like Rep. West have no ideals or principles, they rely on personal attacks. The CPC is proud to stand up for economic equality and civil and human rights for all Americans. Congress is having, and will continue to have, an ongoing debate about job creation, home foreclosures and the issues that concern working families. But we will not engage in base and childish conversations that lower the high level of discourse Americans rightly expect from their representatives.

Okay, so Representative Allen West is telling us that the United States House of Representatives has 78 to 81 "card-carrying Marxists or international Socialists". Really? And all Democrats of course?
Libero Della Piana, vice-chairman of the national Communist Party, tells Politico it's not true. “It’s just guilt by association taken to an extreme,” he told POLITICO. He also said there are no members of Congress who are members of the Communist Party – not even avowed socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt."

Romney's Bogus Spin On The War On Women

ROMNEY   :" Over 92 percent of the jobs lost under this president where lost by women. His policies have been really a war on women. The real war on women has been the job loses as a result of the Obama economy.”

When asked for specific "policies" that have hurt women, Romney stumbles and parrots the 92% argument. The problem with that is there are no policies and Romney's numbers are misleading. Even PolitiFact, which has had a hard time finding any faults in GOP nonsense, admits that Romney's full of it.

"The numbers are accurate but quite misleading. First, Obama cannot be held entirely accountable for the employment picture on the day he took office, just as he could not be given credit if times had been booming. Second, by choosing figures from January 2009, months into the recession, the statement ignored the millions of jobs lost before then, when most of the job loss fell on men. In every recession, men are the first to take the hit, followed by women. It's a historical pattern, Stevenson told us, not an effect of Obama's policies.
There is a small amount of truth to the claim, but it ignores critical facts that would give a different impression. We rate it Mostly False."
It's within the norm of reasonable intellect to deduce that when a recession hits, it effects construction and industry first, which is usually more male dominated. Education and health care workers, which have more female workers, are not hit as hard.
But Obama's policies, such as Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, has helped to equalize the pay between men and women workers. This policy was enacted despite opposition from the GOP. Romney has refused to take a stand on this issue. In the meantime, he supports the Blunt Amendment, which would allow employers to deny health insurance coverage on the basis of moral objections. He has come out and openly stated; “Planned Parenthood, we’re going to get rid of that.” He has refused to condemn Rush Limbaugh for calling Sandra Fluke a "slut".

Mitt Romney dishonest spin pegs pretty high on the bullshit meter.

Michigan Town Hall Calls Out Rep Benishek

Rep. Dan Benishek (R-MI) didn't have a great deal of luck selling his snake oil in Saulte Sainte Marie, Michigan when about a dozen constituents called bullshit. Benishek, in his attempt to  justify Ryan Paul's budget, makes the claim that “There are no government subsidies for oil” which of course is bullshit.

After turning to health care, he makes a false claim that

“We have the highest life spans in the world”

The folks quickly pointed out that the U.S had a much lower life expectancy than most countries with universal health coverage. As a matter of fact, the U.S. ranks 50th.

Benishek states “I don’t believe that’s true” . So, is this ignorance? Denial?

“How can you not know that, you’re a medical doctor?” a woman asked.
